Colostrum

Colostrum, also known as colostrum, is the first milk rich inantibodies, proteinsandvitamins. It is valued for itspowerfulstrengthening propertiesimmune systemand is being studied for its potential benefits in wound healing, improving gut health, and supporting cognitive function.

Colostrum

  • Colostrum, also known as first milk, is a mammary secretion produced by cows. Although the health benefits of colostrum are not fully understood, the presence of growth factors, immunoglobulins, cytokines, lactoferrin, and hormones suggests that colostrum may improve digestive, immune, and neuroendocrine system function, as well as exercise performance.
  • Importantly, no side effects have been reported from oral administration of bovine colostrum. It is well tolerated by people of all ages and health conditions.
  • Immunoglobulins in colostrum appear to be partially resistant to digestion in the small intestine, possibly leaving some antibodies intact, and this mechanism allows for the activation of passive immunity.
  • The lactoferrin present in colostrum has antibacterial, antiviral and antiparasitic properties and also improves iron absorption.
  • People with allergies to cow's milk protein should not use this supplement.
